Back in May, a High School in Azinona had a theme day called "Redneck Day" based on the highly popular show Duck Dynasty. So the kids dressed up as rednecks, with lots of camo and boots and such. One student, formally from a Southern state, wore a shirt that had the confederate flag on it. The superintendent said the student was pulled aside and asked to remove the flag shirt, and said the student had "no ill intent." But now, because the flag offended some students and civil rights activist, the Department of Education is now looking into whether "Redneck Day" created a "racially hostile environment." The DOE says display of the Confederate Flag concerns rights protected by the First Amendment, which includes the right to freedom of speech.
