I’m Brandy. I’m housebroken, good with other dogs and love kids. I have a very outgoing personality and would love a family of my own. I am current on my shots and will be micro-chipped and spayed prior to adoption.
Sweet Brandy was delivered to Effingham County Animal Control on April 26th with a broken leg.
Rather than send her to the vet for proper care and Xrays, as was offered to be paid by another local group, a decision was made to instead splint her leg while in the shelter, where she stayed until this past week. Sadly, that splint caused her bones to fuse together improperly over the two months she sat in the kennel.
Special Medical Information:
Update 6/25/12: While Brandy will be mobile, she will have to be on daily joint supplements and need pain medicines regularly for arthritis. Add to that she is only 8 months old. Our tending veterinarian is seeking an outside consultation from an orthopedic surgeon, but at this time, it is the consensus that re-breaking the leg and resetting it would not only be incredibly painful for her, but may not be able to correct the improper fusion.
